Word-formation processes used by players of online games in writing

The content of the bachelor thesis consists of the analysis of word-formation processes used in Internet communication. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part focuses on word-formation processes used in English with an emphasis on shortening and abbreviation, as these two processes are being the most often used in Internet communication. Furthermore, the thesis briefly describes the environment of the game World of Warcraft and the communication of its players. The practical part is based on a corpus of data obtained from the game channel called "world chat", where the majority of players' communication takes place. The corpus itself is created using the LancsBox software, which is used to compile a list of the most frequent words used by players, for which their word-formation process is determined. The research aims to compile a ranking of the most frequently used word-formation processes by players.
Abrreviation in Contemporary Bulgarian language in Comparison with the Czech language

ABBREVIATION IN CONTEMPORARY BULGARIAN LANGUAGE IN COMPARISON WITH THE CZECH LANGUAGE Dissertation work is aimed at confrontation study of abbreviation in Bulgarian in comparison with Czech and at the description of abbreviations as specific language symbols. Contemporary language tendencies and the changes in the field of abbreviation in relation to the language typology are taken into account. The work is dedicated to the grammatical, stylistic and semantic characteristics of the abbreviations, while a substantial part of the confrontation description addresses the graphical and initial abbreviations, which create a central part of the partial system of abbreviation formations. From the confrontational aspect, there is also described the ability of abbreviations to serve as word-formation base for derivatives. The dissertation work also includes the results of socio-linguistic research made by questionnaire method, where the respondents evaluated the abbreviations of an international character and the words containing abbreviated bases implemented into the text written in Cyrillic.

The Bachelor thesis deals with abbreviations and acronyms in contemporary Russian language compared to their Czech equivalents. At the theoretical level, thesis deals with word formation, focusing on abbreviation and classification of abbreviations and acronyms and their information. In the practical part are located the dictionary of abbreviations and the dictionary of acronyms, which are made from the selected words from current Russian texts. Linguistic analysis of names of herbs in English and Spanish

The subject of this Bachelor's Thesis is a linguistic analysis of the names of herbs in Czech and Spanish. It's focused on the word-forming methods and the motivation of creating these naming units. It provides the reader with a presentation of many common names of several herbs, in which are express various features, using a metaphor. These were also created by using various word-forming methods. This thesis is composed of two main parts. In the theoretical part there is described the process of formation of new naming units and each of the word-forming methods, which both of the languages have. The second and analytical part is focused on the analysis of concrete common names of herbs. The goal of the study is to create a sufficient sample of these names, in order to observe certain tendencies and probabilities in the formation of new names of the herbs and also differences in these processes in both of these languages.
Condensed and abbreviated Expressions in contemporary Journalism (type řidičák, gambáč)

(in English): This work deals with the use of condensed and abbreviated expressions in journalism. Based on the literature and compiled corpus of texts a research was conducted and a list of expressions was compiled. Expressions were compared with material from the Czech National Corpus and analyzed in terms of the way of formation, semantic groups, frequency of occurrence, stylistic characteristics and predicted addressee.
